About Croatia

Croatia has many natural beauty spots and no less than seven national parks: Plitvicer lakes (film location for the Winnetou series), Brioni- and Kornatiarchipel, Krka, Risnjak, Paklenica and the island Mljet. Three of the sites are protected by UNESCO because of their exceptional beauty and valuable contribution to world heritage: Dubrovnik, Diokletian Palace in Split and the Plitvice natural park. Dubrovnik, otherwise known as the "Adrian Pearl" is a story in itself, and architecturally speaking is one of the most beautiful and best preserved cities in Europe.

Theatre productions, musical evenings and public festivals bring the old town streets to life during the summer. The sound of singing and laughter fills the streets, and people enjoy the taste of exquisite fish and wines. You also have the option of getting away from it all. You can explore nature which is still unspoilt or simply regain your strength, all away from human life. Luxurious hotels provide all-day programs for you. Your berths will be in safe harbours or in modern nautical centres and you will enjoy dancing to the rhythm of your favourite music. Breathtaking excursions are organised or you can stop off at one of the islands which takes your fancy.

Visitors are attracted to the Croatian islands by their lush and green vegetation. Trees provide plenty of shade at all times, and you forget that you are in the middle of the sea under the fierce heat of the Mediterranean sun. People visit the islands because of the peaceful and unspoilt nature, to see the evergreens, cypresses, hollies and laurels. There are olive groves, Hvar lavender, flowering myrtle, etc, which have all been there for hundreds of years, along with mandarins and lemons, which you can pick from heavily laden branches at the roadside. You cannot miss the vineyards which promise a productive crop and excellent wine.
